AsSalamu Alikum Warahmto allah Wabarakatoh,

Dear Respected and Beloved Members of the Austin Muslim Community:
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh,

As announced last year, Islamic Center of Greater Austin will be following global moon sighting for determining the beginning and the end of Ramadan Insha'allah. Moon sighting reports from any Islamic center in North America or an official report from any Muslim country will be accepted.

We understand the various opinions that exist on this matter within the Austin Muslim community. Some prefer local moon sighting only, some prefer moon sighting in North America, while others accept reports of moon sighting from any part of the globe.

All these opinions are permissible by the Shariah without any doubts. So lets respect the decisions of all local Islamic centers that one of the above criteria; and let us focus our attention on preparing for the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadhan and to plan on getting maximum benefit from the days of fasting and nights of prayers.

We looks forward to seeing all of you at Manor Masjid and getting to know each of you personally. Please join us and our Imams in our Iftar and daily Taraweeh program. A separate e-mail will be sent with all the details of ICGA's Ramadan program tonight Insha'ALLAH.

We are having two Iamms visiting for the Month of Ramadan:

Dr. Ramadan,
A graduate of Al Azhar University
Ph.D in Sharia (Specialty in Aqeeda -Creed-).
Dr. Ramadan is currently a professor at King Fahad University in Saudi Arabia. He was the former chairman of Al Azhar Dawah Program and has visited the United States many times previously.
Dr. Ramadan has multiple published works, such as Abu Al Faraj Ibn Al Jawzy and The Methodology of the West of studying the Islamic creed.

Imam Muhammad Uthman al-Qasim
He was born in U.K. and educated in Makkah. He has been Imam of the Masjid Qattan in which Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on his soul, used to pray at Makkah. This Shaikh is very well known in Makkah.

To verify the start of Ramadan please stay tuned to ICGA emailing list, check our website at www.austinmosque.org or call the Masjid after 9:00pm at 512-926-9221 after 9:00pm tonight.

If Ramadan happen to be on Friday 8/21st then Tarweeh prayer will be held at Manor Masjid tonight at 9:30pm.

We ask Allah that you all have a blessed month of Ramadan.
